Currently....

I am in Mammoth Lakes, California.
It's beautiful here.

Every morning when I wake up, I don't worry, but wonder how it is that I can top the previous days adventure.
Somehow it finds me and I have nothing to do with it, except throw my hands up and go along for the ride.
It is universally accepted that throwing both fists into the air is a sign of victory, a sort of " I did it!" in sign language. Every day is a victory in just going along for the ride.

These are the pictures I have so far, but the only camera I have is the one on my phone, which is often off. Here's the tip of the iceberg anyway.

Above is Jarod, Jed and Jordan on the beginning of our hike one day. We went up Mammoth Mountain on the Gondola, to 11,000 feet and hiked down over 2,000 feet. Back-country style, no trails, bush-whacking, free soloing down 4th class scrambles and what not. From where I took this picture, you can see 8 lakes and over 50 miles.

The day before that hike Jarod, Jed and I went up Obsidian Dome. It was like being on Mars when we got up there! A storm was rolling in which made it that much more epic, but this is kind of what it looked like. This hike was also without a trail, as far as I could tell anyway. I believe there was an actual trail that goes around, but we went straight up, This picture basically show a tallas field, a HUGE pile of stones and boulders. It was only a few hundred feet up this one but we were rock-hopping the whole way. Kind of like little kids only....grown up a little. It was easy to lose yourself here, when you are on top of a huge pile of rocks that all look the same. Comfortably lost though, never more than a mile from the car, as the bird flies.

This is the place I live, my backyard. If all goes according to plan I will end up in China next, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't fall so in love with this place that I never leave.

I'll do my best to collect more pictures and stories to relay to you.
Namaste
