Day 5

It's 1:45 am and we are awake, so you know tomorrow will be a long post. Exciting too.

Yesterday was a different day, and the start of something new. We spent a mellow morning before heading to the city for a day of seeing the world, as a team. We went to Sideboard for coffee in the morning and hopped the Bart into the middle of it all. Jameson took us on a Banksy tour, which landed us in some pretty cool parts of town. Google Banksy if you don't know of him.

This trip into the city was something new for me. Usually the homeless/disabled community moves me to tears, beyond the options of talking to them let alone praying. I've walked around Chicago with a backpack full of sandwiches and eyes full of tears. Being with a team was essential, as others had the strength to approach some I could never, who refused help or prayer outside their monetary requests. Jamie, a veteran of this city, shared a few thoughts which tempered my emotions enough to enable me. I didn't get an opportunity to pray with anyone but we did get to pray for a woman as we walked away. "not around me....but yes yes, please pray for me. Please pray for me"

People really do want what we have. There's an inherent pull in the soul of every person, toward fullness and assurance. Human beings have a natural, undeniable draw to spiritual freedom. There's an aspect of talking to people where they are in life, so you don't freak them out and scare them off, but truth and power have to be included. People are tired of a powerless lifestyle, our God is outside of power, the creator of power. He is love and He is life.

We saw some pretty sights and my heart and faith have seen new things. I would say this mission trip is already in momentum. We've paddled into the wave and getting on this plane will be be our cut into the barrel. Here we go.

Also, google "Fall Afresh" by Jeremy Riddle.
