We left at 10 am. I had a productive morning before we left, an it was the perfect day for a long drive. Matt drove, I sat shot gun, Dave and Geesche entertained us from the back seat. I have to admit, I am a definite fan of Swiss humor. They are likely two of my favorite people of all time.
It was the perfect summertime drive from Mammoth to Carson. Hot sun, cool wind, good music and even better company, chitty-chitty-bang-bang type packing including three snowboard bags on the roof and we're off. We only stopped once to make sure the bags were still tight and the tires were holding up, which they were. We did however stop twice for skate parks and once for shopping. Our 7hr drive took 12 hours ad it was entirely worth it. Sacramentos skate park, Granite, may be on of the most epic park I've ever seen. I brought my longboard but it was pretty busy and I'm sure anyone there was trying too jar to land their trick to appreciate me leaning how to carve a bowl. I was satisfied with taking pictures.
We finally made it to the Walcheks in time to have kept them awake, waiting up for us. They're amazing. I had seen pictures of the whole family before but meeting them prove I had underestimated their hospitality an love for near strangers, and 9 of us at that. They had stayed awake to give us the full tour of the house, pantry and espresso machine included. You know that made me happy. The house is beautiful and I'm staying in the office, which is upstairs, with it's own staircase...in its own wing. Kind if like a princess, in the highest room an the tallest tower. I got to spend time, one-on-one with Kelli, and it was wonderful. She is amazing. The day is already beautiful and I'm expecting it to get even better. Also they have live flowers every where.
