God is constantly calling us to leave our comfort zone. Don't believe me? He told abram to leave his land, and in the cultural context, that meant leaving everything behind. His family, his land, his livestock and livelihood, every comfort he has ever known . He sent Jonah to the Ninevites, the opposite side of the world and the people known for their cruelty and wickedness. The most violent people know to society at the time. He even sent Jesus from Heaven to earth, who on the cross, pleaded with Him, "Father! If there is any other way!"
I'm not tying to make God sound evil, He is so far from that. He asks us to leave our comfort zone because then we have full dependency on Him and when we are successful we have no choice but to recognize Him for having done it for us. We can't just say, "that was a coincidence..."
As Danny put it in his book, Culture of Honor, the reason we must leave our comfort zone is because we must have nothing but God to fall back on, if we are going to tap into the wealth of Heaven. Considering myself a daughter of the King of Kings, I am a princess. I have access to more wealth than I'll ever fathom needing. It can be scary at first but I have been learning that complete and hopeless dependency on Him is the most liberating experience I've ever walked in. I'll take it any day and I am so thankful for the gifts so generously given.
I'd love to challenge you. Step out of your comfort zone and tell me about how God shows up. Stepping out could be talking to a stranger about God, random acts of kindness, asking for something ad fully expecting this "out-there" kind of gift. Why ever it is email me and tell me about it.
Love always
